A Doctor’s Life - It’s Not Just About Medicine

Express Line

Posted by Dr. Cason on Monday, May 12th, 2008

Good Afternoon, I had a good morning. Ran behind a little and had one patient- a walk- in suggest an express line. Not a bad idea. I could just run in and diagnosis and run out. Would everyone like that as well? What if you were the one waiting? This walk-in waited two hours after I had seen the scheduled appointments and the problem was minor. I felt bad and apologized but I didn’t know they were going to be so quick.

All in all I smiled most of the day and had one little peanut coo over and over at me. I love my job!

I saw 13 patients this morning; over half had either a primary upper respiratory infection or a concurrent upper respiratory infection with some other issues such as an ear infection.

3 were well baby visits

1 was a big girl physical

I also saw

  • Roseola: this is characterized by the classic description of a fussy child with a fever for a few days and then a rash - fine little rash- erupts after the fever breaks. (Your doc must diagnosis it. Fussy babies can mean a lot of things)
  • Pneumonia and reactive airway disease.
  • A lip laceration caused by a fall on a short little upper lip frenulum. We don’t treat this. The lip has amazing regenerative ability.
