My Famous Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Chocolate Cookie

Hands down this is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe I’ve ever made. I have no problems with passing it on to you because it was a generous soul who passed it to me. I use the butter flavored sticks of Crisco. It’s not the healthiest but eaten in moderation you’ll be fine. Once you start cooking them, you too will become famous for them!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of shortening
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 12 oz bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips

Mix the first 5 ingredients together until smooth. Combine the dry ingredients together in a separate bowl and then add to the sugar mixture. Add the chocolate chips in last.

Bake in a 375 degree oven for 8-10 minutes.

Similar to the recipe I use, except I make it with 100% butter which is just ridiculously decadent. I can’t make them anymore because I can’t stop eating them when they’re around.

Nice hearing from you again, and thanks for the lovely comment you left on my blog today.

I’ll have to try them with butter. I make a batch at least once a week and lately just smell them to satisfy the craving. I can’t eat them all the time either! Well I could, but I shouldn’t.

Hello Dr. Cason. Ok, I’m printing it out and will try it when we get back from our mini vacation. I have a weakness for chocolate chip cookies!

John- Enjoy! I haven’t made it in forever because it has eggs and milk(in the chocolate). I’m trying to think of another way to make it. Let me know how it turned out. :)

I will make these. I normally use half butter and half shortening, but will purchase the butter flavored Crisco. I know Alton Brown of Good Eats had a program about the differences in cookie’s texture when using different fats. I think the shortening produces a slightly fluffier cookie – if I remember correctly. Thanks.

Susan- Yeah!!! Another food network fan! Speaking of Alton Brown- I made all his cookie variations and had everyone taste them. It was a lot of cookies for a while. At the end my husband just looked at me and said, “What are you doing? You already have the best recipe! Stop messing with something that isn’t broken.” Point taken! :)
