Beautiful tree! There are a number of flowering trees in Florida, most notably the Royal Poincianas. They have a beautiful orange fern-like flower. Just gorgeous!

If you find out the name of that one, please let me know! I would imagine something that grows well in Guam would have a good shot at growing in Florida.

I can find out just about anything when I'm stuck on the sofa with a "milk drunk" baby napping in my lap and a laptop next to me! I think I searched Google using the terms yellow "flowering tree" Guam or something like that.

We just found out we're staying here in SD for another tour so we should be here when you get back.

Queen Mommy- Melissa found the answer Woo-Hoo! BTW- I love Dogwood! Reminds me of when I lived in D.C.

Kyla- And peaceful too. It was sitting in a mall parking lot, but it sat with style and grace.

Davina-[ Just call me Sheila ;) ] Churn her own butter! Wow it must have tasted delicious. I make my own bread and it is sooo good. But to put homemade butter on top would be especially nice.

Melissa- How did you find that? You're right. I went over and checked out the description and photo and it was dead on! Yeah! We should be in Miami for a Cornea fellowship for John after another two years here but then our plan is to be back in San Diego! I'd love to see you!

Hi Lance.

Saw your comment on Barbara's blog today; I LOVED the Little House books too! My mom used to churn her own butter and bake fresh bread. I miss those days.

Sorry, can't help you out with that tree; I... ahem.... "branched" out the search on Google, but came up empty.

Davinas last blog post..<a href="http://lovingpulse.wordpress.com/2008/07/01/hello-my-friend/" rel="nofollow">Hello My Friend</a>

Barbara- It's the color that's so unique. I don't see a lot of yellow flowers here. Red and pink lots! But not yellow.

Audubon- Yes we're on Guam. Maybe I should put that in my header. Hmmm...Or maybe I'll just put it in a little info box in my sidebar.

Lance- You're right. We're home. But how lovely it must feel to settle in one place. We hope to be stationed back in San Diego in 3 years and that will feel familiar as we just came from there. For now we are enjoying the different culture. One day I'll look back and say, Wow we lived on a tropical island!

When we were first married, we moved a lot due to the work I was in. Nothing ever really felt like home. We never really settled in enough and made it ours. We've now been at the same place ten years, and here does feel like home. Home is where the heart is. You've grown to know the place you are, and have the love of your family, and you've made it your own. You are home. Enjoy!

Sorry, no help on the tree here either - but it is lovely!
