WooHoo! Jumping up and down! WooHoo! Spinning all around!
My exact words when I found out that Barbara Swafford at Blogging Without A Blog chose me as the New Blog of The Week, I could barely contain my excitement.
You see blogging has become very personal. I take it seriously but I try to have fun. For almost two months now I have blogged every day (Two? Seriously it seems longer. I thought it was actually 3 months).
I let my mood take me where it will go and feel what is right. Right now I feel gratitude. I started blogging on a whim on a good friend’s site Medrounds.org. Through his encouragement and guidance I started writing MommyMD: A guide to Realistic Parenting. I found a voice I never knew I had. I am forever indebted to him for his encouragement. Thank you Andy.
That experience let me bloom and I recently took the plunge and started my own site. Not an easy job. Who knew I could and would learn so much Word Press? Every time I got stuck I literally just kept googling blogs and tips and would follow someone’s advice.
I still didn’t know a lot of what I was doing but somewhere along the way a site led me to Barbara and everything changed! I know if you go visit her, you see what I mean. Not only does she talk about blogging but she really gets at the heart of why most of us blog. She has created a social community where you feel like you’re coming to a familiar spot and everyone knows your name.
After two months I couldn’t be happier about my experience and it’s through the support of people like Barbara at Blogging Without A Blog that reminds us that it’s so worthwhile.
Thank you Barbara for the selection of New Blog of the Week. I’m honored.

Lanceon 10 Jul 2008 at 12:07 am 3This honor is well deserved Dr. Cason! One of the things I really like about your blog is that it IS personal. I feel I really “know” you from reading here (and looking at the many lovely pictures!).
I will also second what you have said about Barbara at Blogging Without A Blog. She is a wonderful person, and really has worked to build a great community at her blog. And the more I do this, the more I realize that for me one of the great benefits of blogging is the building of community.
Congratulations!!

Barbara Swaffordon 10 Jul 2008 at 4:50 am 5Hi Dr. Cason,
I like that “woo hoo….” (smiles).
Like you, I’m happy our paths crossed. From the first time I visited your blog, I liked it. Your writing style is so natural and it’s obvious you write from the heart. For that reason, I had to share your work with my community. It’s always a joy to come and visit you and find out what’s happening in your part of the world.
I am humbled by your kind words, and Lance’s too.
For you, and all of the new bloggers out there, I wish you all the success in the world.

Dr. Casonon 10 Jul 2008 at 5:25 am 6Karl- I’m glad you said that because I’ve been wondering if I should continue them. I guess I’ll keep going!
Audubon- Thanks
Lance- Thank you for the support. I guess that’s what all this is about right? Connecting.
Lisa- Don’t worry Lisa. I don’t think you have that to worry about. I still visit even if I don’t have time to comment!
Barbara- You’re welcome any time. BTW Where are you?
John Hoff - eVentureBizon 10 Jul 2008 at 1:55 pm 7Is there a doctor in the house??
Congrats on the honors. Barbara made I wise choice and you seem like a really nice person.
Although I have only been blogging for less than a year, I know a lot about computers & Wordpress. If you ever need any help, please feel free to ask either in my site’s forums or by email.
On the flip side, I have two children ages 2 and 3 months so I may hit you up with some questions!!
Congrats and see you around,
John

Dr. Casonon 10 Jul 2008 at 2:19 pm 8John- Uh Oh! You just might regret that offer! I have a very inquisitive mind and not a lot of knowledge about web design and Wordpress- that’s a dangerous combination!!
Oh- and your kids are still little as are mine! So sweet huh? Is the two year old carrying the baby around everywhere? My three are pushing for a fourth!
John Hoff - eVentureBizon 10 Jul 2008 at 2:41 pm 9He tries to carry him. It’s cute but he’s just too young . . . but that never seems to bother him.
Well if you come to a point where you need help, I prefer questions in my forum over email only because I’m currently trying to “populate” it and no one likes to go to a forum with little activity. However, I’m always available by email.
Here’s a site I frequent which you will find me chatting on along with others who are there to help: free website templates.

Mark - Creative Journey Cafeon 10 Jul 2008 at 11:43 pm 12Hi Dr. Cason,
Congrats! I also had the good fortune of being picked as Barbara’s BOTW a few months ago.
Your blog has a great feel, and - I thought, hmmm…those are some terrific photos…it’s not common to find a doctor with such a creative eye!
Bravo - I look forward to keeping up with your adventures.

Dr. Casonon 11 Jul 2008 at 6:47 am 13John- I too like a forum and will definitely go there. Recently I have been thinking of changing my colors to blend more but CSS is tough to work with!
Barbara- No wonder you’re so nice! Oregon has really nice people- I’m from Northern California myself. (Redding)
Kyla- Hi!! It’s funny we do all this saying the acknowledgment isn’t that important and then when someone says something nice we’re like- Whew! Someone likes me!!!
Mark- Thanks for visiting I’ll have to go check your blog out. I like the name! Thanks for the comment regarding the photos. Sometimes I don’t know why the photo is good just that it seemed to look cool. Such a rooky I am! My husband gets very technical and starts talking about composition. I just nod my head and say Sure! That’s what I was going for.
