Unexpected Beauty

We have the weekend off to recuperate and rest before additional labs will be drawn.
I played with these photos today working with the black and white and texturizing them to make some of them look a little older. It reminded me that sometimes when we look at things in a different way they become beautiful even transforming. I’m trying to keep my head up and my heart calm.
While we were all playing in the park, I noticed a couple that set up camp here for the night. I took this shot as this woman was pacing back and forth waiting for her little stove to heat up. Later while it was cooking, her husband came and leaned in slightly while she fed him a bite of the stove top meal- it was a normal scene of any couple making dinner.
When it was all done they sat close together crouched on some blankets eating out of the same pot. It looked good and quiet. I was tempted to join them.
We happened upon this peacock as we were wandering some back roads looking for a beached whale at the North Shore of O’ahu. Swarms of sharks were reported to be in the area taking advantage of an easy meal. We couldn’t miss the chance to get that photo so we searched the roads that would lead us there. A local road dead ended here and while it wasn’t a shark, it was interesting. He yelled at us a while! Better than a watch dog- my father told me.
He shot baskets for quite a while by himself. The ball was flat and once it made it to the ground it tended to stay there.
This is at the north shore O’ahu. I made it old and grainy to bring back a feeling of yesteryear, of perhaps a simpler time.

Cassaundraon 20 Jul 2008 at 1:43 am 2Peacocks ARE better than a watch dog when it comes to making noise about someone or something being where they are not supposed to…They scream pretty loud all hours of the day and night to alert us to predators or vehicles that don’t belong on our property.
We have 2 peacocks and one blind peahen…..and….Nice photos!
Lanceon 20 Jul 2008 at 2:01 am 3I have to agree with Cath - black and white pictures are effective at portraying pictures in a different way. Like of simpler times - I like it.

I was just catching up on your last few posts and my heart goes out to you and Jake. There is no way I can begin to imagine how you are feeling, but I have tears in my eyes right now. I send you love and light. Jake is lucky to have you
When your heart is open it’s amazing what beauty it sees. Despite the difficult situation you are in you continue to share beauty with us through your photography. Thank you!

Dr. Casonon 20 Jul 2008 at 4:42 am 5Cath- Thanks. I still have so much to learn!
Cassaundra- They scream really loud! As I stood there I kept hearing this screaming and it wasn’t until my father said something that I realized that it was the peacock.
Lance- Here in O’ahu, everywhere I go they have these old black and white photos-particularly of Pearl Harbor. The emotion is soooo different because of the black and white!
Davina-”love and light”Thank you.
Guinevere Meadowon 20 Jul 2008 at 11:30 am 6One of myfavorite things to do is to play with photos! You’re right, looking at something in a little bit different perspective can make all the difference.
Dr. Casonon 21 Jul 2008 at 6:11 pm 7Guinevere- Sometimes I have to stop taking so many photos and just enjoy the ones I have!
