I Just Wanted to Say Thank You

Today was a good day. At least it ended well which makes up for some of the tantrumming in the am. Bought a stroller and that has made all the difference. For me of course!
Made our way down to the beach again, grabbed some food and had ourselves a picnic. Jake ran around chasing the birds which must seem huge to him after the little birds on Guam. When we first arrived here he ran after them yellling, “Look duckies!!”
I got lots of great pictures and even had to buy a portable hard drive to put it all on! Which is what I’m doing right now. So sorry no pics tonight. I’ll have to be happy just to talk right now.
Thank you all so much for the kind words and well wishings. It’s funny how a new circumstance can shift our priorities and make us grateful- even longing- for all the normal petty stuff that irritates us. Just as I was feeling sorry for myself I looked around the park. As the sun set it started to fill up with homeless people most of whom appeared to be mentally ill. Here I was on my way back to the hotel where I was going to give my little guy and bath and place him to bed whereas these people looked like they needed a good meal and a place to rest as well. I felt guilty. I’m immensely grateful that Jake is happy, laughing -most of the time- and a very bright inquisitive child.
It could be worse and I thank God for my blessings. Tomorrow I should have some more good pics of Jake and the birds, a huge tree with aerial roots and the shore!
BTW- Can anyone tell me- How many backups of your website do you have? Have you ever needed to restore your site? How often do you back up?

Leanne Margaithon 20 Jul 2008 at 6:37 pm 1This post struck a chord with me. There is a park in Adelaide where a lot of homeless people gathers as it starts to get dark. I have only been past it a few times, and it is a bit of a reality check for me as to how comfortable my life is and I am so grateful for what I have.
Looking forward to the pictures – your photos are lovely.
I was thinking of the same issue with regard to back ups this weekend. I don’t even know how to do this – must go and find out. I will be interested in any responses about this.

Cath Lawsonon 20 Jul 2008 at 10:17 pm 3Hi Dr Cason – you’re welcome. It’s good that despite all that is happening in your life, you can still look around you and find many things to be grateful for. I’m looking forward to seeing the pics you’ve taken.
Donnaon 20 Jul 2008 at 11:28 pm 4So glad you day was a Brighter one! I believe if we only look around us, we can see a million different reasons why we should always try to keep a smile on our faces…life has a million different lessons to teach.

Barbara Swaffordon 21 Jul 2008 at 4:14 pm 5Hi Dr. Cason,
I’m catching up on my reading after being away from blogosphere for our annual neighborhood garage sale.
I love the black and white photos you shared on the previous post. The grainy beach picture was so cool.
Re: backups. I don’t backup my blog as often as I should. Last year I crashed my blog, and my web host had to restore it from a backup. Luckily, I had one that was a day old. I would have been soooo sad if I had lost a lot of my posts and comments.
I pray all is going well for you and Jakey.

Dr. Casonon 21 Jul 2008 at 6:00 pm 6Leanne- I thought about the homeless again today. During the day you rarely see any and as the night approaches they all come out. I forgot how many homeless there are in the states. You rarely see that on Guam.
Tiff- And you as well tiff. Lately I have been thinking of you everyday!
Cath- The weekend as been a needed break and I’m feeling better more and more.
Donna- Today was very beautiful again.
Barbara- Hi did you have fun? I need to do that. I’m sure in my neighborhood there are a lot of people with tons of stuff! I back up my site once a week but have heard of people doing it every time they post!
Alesiaon 22 Jul 2008 at 12:44 am 7I’m just back from vacation and caught up with your site. The picture of Jakey’s back after the skin test brings back memories. Poor babies — what they go through.
I’m sending positive vibes your way.
Thinking of you,
A.
Dr. Casonon 22 Jul 2008 at 8:44 am 8Alesia- Welcome back! I know it was a shock as well. It was just so visual. While I was taking the photos the allergist kept saying, “You know we really need to get a digital camera for the clinic!”
