A Doctor’s Life - It’s Not Just About Medicine

Ahhhh Home!

Posted by Dr. Cason on Friday, July 25th, 2008

Oh my gosh it’s so good to be home. No sooner than 5 minutes in the car and all three started arguing. But it felt good and familiar.

I’ve already begun the reprioritizing. My writing course has been put on hold until february and the new position as historian/photographer for the officer spouses club? Yeah I backed out of that too. I feel guilty in a way but this trip reminded me that everyone at some time gets rambling on along and starts to get over committed. We wake up one day and find that we spent 5 times as long on the computer and 1/2 as much on things that would give us great joy-if only we’d engage in it!

So I’ll be now blogging 5 days a week instead of 7. Does anyone notice I did 7? People always warn don’t back down and you should blog everyday but 7 days a week left little time for anything else. I’ll spend the weekends cooking and taking photos and come back refreshed on Mondays with even more to share. ( I guess that means I need to quit blog 365!- oh well! prioritizing comes first!)

Tomorrow is a new day. I have this crazy urge to clean, organize and cook some home cooked meals along with snuggling with the kids on the couch. Right now though there is an overflowing tub of water waiting for me. I need to soak and relax and breath a little deeper.

It’s good to be home. See you all on Monday!!

I tried the 7 days a week thing too and I burnt out big time. Enjoy your family so that you have more to write about.

    Hi Dr. Cason,

Welcome home. Prioritizing…that is necessary. With blogging often becoming addictive, I’ve found I need to take the weekends off. Even though my traffic counts drop, it’s o.k. They’re only numbers. Me, my health, and my family (and friends) come first. Sometimes the rest just has to wait.

tiff- I find that’s it’s a struggle just to figure out what is best for me!

Awesome Mom- Yes that’s true. I find that I have a tendency to create a to do list just to check it off and forget to ask myself if it’s worth doing it that much!

Kyla- Yes it’s good to be home.

Lisa- I never thought it would encroach that much. But it does.

    Ann- Thanks Ann!

Barbara- It is addictive huh? Your discussion with Lorelle actually got me thinking of it. She suggested making a plan. That has been something I’ve had little time to do. Which is funny since it’s the most critical thing to determine. We always could work harder. Always! But will that necessarily bring us closer to our goal?

So glad that your home, re prioritized and have found some answers! There is nothing like home cooked meals. We are currently on vacation while our house gets some work done on it and man two weeks is two long! What can I say I’m a home body!

I love going away too, but love returning home. Home is comforting and centering for me - it’s where I find balance.

And yes I did notice you were a 7 day a week blogger and wondered how you managed to juggle that with everything else in your life. Good on you for making changes so that you have more time for you and your family.

I don’t see the need to blog 7 days a week obviously. In a way it would be nice but it is hard. (I think I blogged more regularly when I had a job because I would do it while I ate my lunch.) Take some time and enjoy your family. Trust me your readers will get it.

Hi - Glad you’re home safe Dr Cason. Honestly nobody will notice if you cut down. I don’t always blog 7 days a week anymore and it makes no difference. Fewer people read on a weekend anyway.

Glad you’re home safely! It’s good to reprioritize every now and then. Just remember that your blog is just that- YOUR BLOG. Do with it what you want! Some weeks I post every day, some weeks I don’t get around to it at all, but I find that my “people” will still tune in even when I don’t post daily. Enjoy time with your family!

7 days a week is much, do you find enough time to do it?:)

Nikki- I’m totally a home-body too! My husband can go out a lot and seems to be rejuvenated but me? I get recharged at home with my familiar surroundings!

Leanne- I found that with blogging 7 days a week I was ALWAYS thinking about when I would post, what I would post and using all my free time checking stats. These two days off have felt long but I have cooked more and taken more photos.

White Hot- You’re right. The readers will get it. Or not. But either way I want to continue and see how the site grows.

Cath- I have noticed fewer people read and it’s probably becuase they are with their family. Which is what it should be.

Guin- Oh! I need to go see your new blog! You’re right. It’s is your blog! :)

AxeCity- I actually found it was okay since I like to write but I found my creativity wasn’t being used in other ways! Now I can get to Anna Karenina- my book club book. It’s going to take some time. :)
