Well, after looking through my bare frig and cabinets, I opted for taters with eggs for dinner last night! It was an excuse to make the taters!

I think they are called potato gems here. My older kids like them but the toddlers don't like them.
I have another question for you but I need to think about the wording.

I don't have children, so tater tots just don't ever make it into the house. I have to say though, they are scrumptious!!! Every so often I get the tater rounds form Burger King - maybe once this past year. lol

Sara- Doesn't everything go with spaghetti? :) Ok I have your list of questions and I'll put it all together for Medicine Mondays!
Thanks for the participation. I originally thought I'd just post my own stuff I thought people would want to know but then thought better of it! Good thing too because these questions are even better than I could have imagined!

TIme to find dinner for me and the hubby and those tator tots are making me want to throw them in the oven. Do they go with spagetti????

Ok, I have a few questions for medicine monday.

1. When should Early Childhood Intervention be called in on a situation?

I guess I need to give some background. My daughter now 15 months old really doesn't say anything. I discussed with our pedi at her 9 month appointment in preparation for her 12 month appt. where she is supposed to be saying 6 words including mama and dada. Well, at 15 months says mama and dada occassionally and doesn't really say anything else - audible that is. I think she tried to say her brother's name and maybe ball or milk, but not much else. She I ask for Early Intervention to come in and work with her? I know the little ones all talk at their own pace and I am thinking it will just come, but what if there is something going on that I am ignoring.

We are starting sign language which she does more and please.
Jakey spoke late right?

2. Is it true that you can give tylenol or motrin for up to 5 days for teething? Then it is 5 days off and back on again?

3. This is a funny one, how do I get my 15 month old to not think her brother (3.5 years old) is a piece of meat she can just bite all the time? We really think she is a tiger and he is her prey! We tell her no, but she just laughs at us and then goes back in for the kill.

Ok, off to watch the Olympics.

Lance - Even if you weren't hungry I reckon a few little tators would find their way to your belly! That's the way of the tot.

Kyla- Occasionally? Do you ration them as well?

Karen- Maybe it's a texture thing. Mine will only eat them if they are smothered with ketchup! It seem the tator is the vehicle for excessive ketchup ingestion!

Rita- Hee Hee! There ain't NUTHIN' exotic here! Just a bunch of real life squished into my blog!! I love the tator night idea. I can't wait until my kids are older so they can cook me dinner!

Marnie-bug!!- Hey everyone look who showed up! My twin! Twin meet the crew-Crew meet my other half. She's not in Guam and we'll just leave it at that because if we talk too much there will little puddles of tears everywhere and then whose gonna get the kids up in 34 minutes! Oops 33 minutes!

Love the recipe. I actually made it before and think I have a pic hanging around. Guess what? My next post is born! Thanks sweetie!

Try this recipe that calls for tater tots. Embarrassingly simple, but tasty.

1 pound of ground beef
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can (11 1/8 oz) condensed Italian tomato soup, undiluted
1 jar (4 1/2 oz) sliced mushrooms, drained
2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1 package (32 oz) frozen tater tots

In a skillet, cook the beef, pepper and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink and vegetables are tender, drain. Add soup and mushrooms.

Transfer to a greased 13 in x 9 in x 2 in baking dish. Top with cheese and potatoes. Bake, uncovered at 400 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Yields: 6-8 servings. (Note - I could not find condensed Italian soup in my grocery store, so I just used regular tomato soup and then added Italian seasoning. Also, add some salt.)

(Not my own recipe - just can't remember where I got it from, sorry.)

OK. So I came over on Barbara's recommendation. And what do I find? Tater tots? From the exotic doc with 3 kids?

Heck, I'm staying! Though my kids are now 17 and 20, we had one night a week for OVER FIVE YEARS where we would each come up with a menu idea - but the main ingredient had to be...TATER TOTS!

If ever you wish to expand on your "totcookbook," let me know. I don't think there's a food available that we haven't "done" with those tots!

I think there's something wrong with my child, doctor. She's the only kid on Earth who doesn't like Tater Tots!
