SARA - I remember reading about needlework in China years ago. The very small stitches were banned because of the toll they were taking on the women's eyesight. Yet the women would hide in caves and continue this beautiful needwork because it was a part of their culture which they took such great pride in. I was really into needlepoint at the time, and found this so interesting.

I imagine the Balinese people take the same great pride in these beautiful fabrics. I also find it interesting they use those same beautiful colors (the blues, greens, golds, etc.) that seem to bring out the beauty of their waters and flowers.

It is crazy to think that someone hand made all of them. Can you imagine the patience needed to craft these? I would like to live on an island and enjoy the simple things in life and not have to worry about how to balance the hectic day to day life of a big City.

Yes, the picture is SO beautiful. Such artistry in the fabrics they use. Can you only imagine how many hours they put into these beautiful fabrics. Thanks Sheila.
