A Flat Tire and Drinking Tea with Neil Young’s Out on the Weekend
Posted by Dr. Cason on Thursday, September 25th, 2008
The rain poured out of the sky heavily, drenching and obscuring everything in it’s path. With the littlest two in the car we cruised down a few houses down to pick up Little Miss Blue Eyes at her bus stop.
Bumpity Bump Bump. Bumpity Bump Bump.
Uh Oh. That didn’t sound right.
“Stay right here, ” I cautioned to the kids.
“No. In the car. No, really! Please don’t move. Mommy’s going to check the car. Wait. Right Here. PLEASE!”
They finally caught on and waited there confused.
I opened the door, braced myself against the wet droplets flying in my face and looked around the outside of my gray Tahoe. Yep sure enough, there it was. Flatter than Flat. Back left tire was completely deflated with a culprit nail clearly visible on it’s anterior surface.
Hmmm… Crud.
Later that night, no less than 4 neighbors called to tell me my tire was flat. That’s what I love about this neighborhood.
So a rearrangement of schedules were made.
It is still raining now as I sit here typing this. I’m perched atop a little bar stool inside (no not a bar) a coffee shop.
Though a drink or two might not be a bad idea. But this early in the morning it just gives me the fits. So it’s tea- In a real cup. Even if I can’t take it with me it’s worth the smooth feel of the cup.
Neil Young is on my ipod and it’s the perfect song for this day.
Here’s the you tube version from 1971- before his release of his HARVEST album. Love it.
Think I’ll pack it in
and buy a pick-up
Take it down to L.A.
Find a place to call my own
and try to fix up.
Start a brand new day.The woman I’m thinking of,
she loved me all up
But I’m so down today
She’s so fine, she’s in my mind.
I hear her callin’.See the lonely boy,
out on the weekend
Trying to make it pay.
Can’t relate to joy,
he tries to speak and
Can’t begin to say.She got pictures on the wall,
they make me look up
From her big brass bed.
Now I’m running down the road
trying to stay up
Somewhere in her head. The woman I’m thinking of,
she loved me all up
But I’m so down today
She’s so fine she’s in my mind.
I hear her callin’.See the lonely boy,
out on the weekend
Trying to make it pay.
Can’t relate to joy,
he tries to speak and
Can’t begin to say.

Enjoy that wonderful cup of tea in the pretty smooth cup – sounds like you really needed it after such an ordeal – why is it tires always go flat in bad weather!!!!!
Take care, and get some rest this coming weekend please. I know you need it badly.
Lanceon 25 Sep 2008 at 8:07 pm 2Flat tire, no fun…
A visit to the coffee shop, sounds like a good place to be. That’s a great song, too – take time to enjoy it.

Nikkion 26 Sep 2008 at 12:18 am 4I can and do spend hours in the coffee shop. The one I go to here in town is wonderful. Danger and I go during the day and everyone knows us which is great because there is usually someone holding her that’s not me! My choice of drink, either Vanilla Bean tea or Hot Chocolate

chrison 26 Sep 2008 at 4:23 am 7Great song on a lousy day. I’ve had days like that one and somehow a nice warm tea and good music always make everything great!
Oh yeah that darn monsoon rain in Asia is brutal!
Triciaon 26 Sep 2008 at 5:32 am 8Oh no. Flat tires are absolutely no fun, especially in the rain. I recently had one and although I hate to admit it, I played the girl card and had my husband change it.
Kylaon 26 Sep 2008 at 10:26 am 9Flat tires are no fun, but sitting in the coffee shop sounds lovely, though.

Dr. Casonon 26 Sep 2008 at 3:00 pm 10Kathleen – I took a two hour nap today and wrote 4 blog posts. Time to connect with the family.
Lance- I have it on repeat on my ipod.
Moon Mom- Nope.
And just what does Cur mean?
Awesome- Super close! That was nice.
Niki- Looooove the bookstore vibe too! Glad Danger did well with the shots! Just got your email (You go straight to the trashbin! I don’t know why!) regarding the nap question. I’ll do it for Medicine Mondays okay?
Lisa- It’s a warm rain and no way! A freeway flat is so much worse!
Chris- I actually live the rain here. But it gets tough juggling the kids.
Tricia- Yeah My Hubby baled me out too!
Kyla- It was nice. Mmmm…
tiffon 26 Sep 2008 at 4:24 pm 11Biggest hugs for you.

kcinnovaon 26 Sep 2008 at 8:52 pm 12Everything is better in a real cup! I had a cup of tea yesterday in one of my favorite mugs.
We love us some Neil Young over here (one of my dh’s faves) and I’m guessing it helped your day go better. Flat tires=no fun.
