One Step Forward Two Steps Back

In lieu of medicine Mondays on MommyMd.org I wrote about taking the time to play. I abandoned the idea of cleaning the kids rooms and played trains instead. I got that sweet picture above and it seemed to capture the lazy hazy days of the weekend. All was good. That is until the dishes overwhelmed me and the pear dropped on the floor. And stayed there.
I started to get ahead by adopting Flylady’s attitude and just set the timer and clean or do whatever for that time allotted.
10 minutes with the dishes. 5 minutes with the computer. 2 minutes for a shower. 1 minute for eating dinner. 15 seconds reading a book….
We were actually getting ahead and then insanity hit. In the 20 minutes I had before picking Blue Eyes up from the bus stop yesterday I emptied their entire room… and plopped it in the hallway.
Chaos reigns again.

Amy Wrighton 22 Oct 2008 at 11:38 am 4This is so funny. A group of ladies and I talked about this exact thing this morning in our Bible Study (maybe it was more talk than study…go figure). We all have such a hard time staying ahead. It never ends but it’s good to enjoy the play times while we can. Here is a poem that hung on my mom’s wall and was passed down to me when I had kids:
Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow.
For babies grow up, we’ve learned to our sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs and dust go to sleep.
For I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.
I have an older friend that told me she now misses having to step over toys in her house. Her kids are gone and her house is too clean.

Hooray for playing with trains
Good luck getting their room all reorganized and spiffy, I’m sure it will look great!
Life just wouldn’t be the same without dropped pears, would it? lol.

I’m actually teaching myself to be LESS organized, less of a perfectionist. To let go of the need for complete order.
