He looks to me like he's in pain, the way his fingers are spread out, not at all relaxed. And with his right leg elevated on a pillow, that's where I'd guess it's hurting. I agree that the details you point out do make it a really nice photo, but I feel like my muscles tighten up in sympathy every time I look at him!

Kathleen and Myst- I thought he looked really rested but my friends thought he looked liked he passed away. No of course not I retorted- Just look at how much tone there is in his body!

Sara- I emailed you! Let me know if you didn't get it. I'll post Molluscum on Medicine Mondays for the rest of you!

Give this poor man a mattress and some soft cushions. My joints are hurting just looking at him. I could never get up off that hard surface with my rheumatoid arthritis - for sure!

Sara - I'll try this again. For some reason my comment did not post. Here is a fairly good website explaining this virus. Hope this can help you understand it better.

Hi Sheila-

Great shot.

I know you are with the kids alone this week, but I need some advice about something. I emailed on your mommymd site, but I am not sure it went through.

Lily was just diagonosed with Molluscum. Daycare is freaking out because they don't know what it is (I've never heard of it either). They are asking me to get a note from the peditrician on what it is so that they can explain it to the other parents. I saw an NP and our pedi this week and both copied pages out of the Red Book and another diagonsic book to explain what it is. If I read both of these documents, as a lay person, they sound horrifying. My pedi said that this is less contagious than things like hand, foot, and mouth, rosiola, etc. It's 10:15 at night and I feel like I should call the doctors office and ask for a simple written description. Our pedi basically told me these are warts, but the clinical description is geared toward words like smallpox and infectious skin virus. He really made me feel like this is no big deal and in the 30 years he has been practicing, he said no one has asked him this about MCV.

I mean, as long as she is wearing pants, (they are really small spots on her legs), and the daycare providers wash their hands after changing her diaper, she should be passing this to other kids, right? I mean, is it only spreadable when the warts are "an open wound" or is it spreadable all the time?

Anything you can offer as now my third opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
