My Best Recipe- Boy Do I Miss It!

Posted by on Thursday, October 30th, 2008

When all these food allergies are just a memory of yesterday, I will load up on chocolate chips, eggs, flour, sugar and salt and make our favorite family recipe.

This is for Lisa of Libelletage- one of my favorite blogs. She’s hosting a contest of your favorite holiday recipes. Here’s to you Lisa- Enjoy!

Chocolate Cookie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of shortening
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 12 oz bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips

Mix the first 5 ingredients together until smooth. Combine the dry ingredients together in a separate bowl and then add to the sugar mixture. Add the chocolate chips in last.

OMG, I think I just gained 50 lbs looking at that picture. Wonderful picture. You do food very well Sheila. You could photograph for menus and mail-order food people easily.

Sounds fantastic. I have been experimenting with Egg Replacer so my food allergy girl, can partake in baked goods. I could try that with this recipe. The shortening is great as the dairy replacement.

Sheila, have you tried the egg replacer? Can you get that in Guam?

I was just recently diagnosed with diabetes, so I’m still in the mourning phase of baking. I love to bake and Thanksgiving/Christmas time is prime baking season. I’ll have to figure out something else to do – either that or bake and take! not eat lol

I seriously HATE baking, but the husband has been begging for cookies for weeks now… looks like I have to excuse now!

Mmm yummy I hope you can find a substitute or even better get rid of the allergy. I love oatmeal and pecans in my chocolate chip cookies.

Mmmm, I have been craving baked goods (perhaps the stress of exams and television appearances and upcoming surgeries has something to do with it) and these sound like they would hit the spot!

I’m so sad I can’t see your cookie pic! For some reason, the photos on your site haven’t been visible to me for the past few days. Maybe I’ll try a different browser… hmm… Anyway, they sound super yummy! I’m going to attempt making homemade candy this year, we’ll see how that goes!

Hi DR. Cason – This is TOO ironic. My husband just asked for chocolate chip cookies. I buy the frozen ones from Costco and baked him four. They aren’t as good as homemade, but do in a pinch. Your recipe looks similar to my scratch one. Yum!
