Going Through a Decluttering Phase

Posted by on Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

I’m in a decluttering phase. It started when Hubby first left a couple of weeks ago and now he’s gone again for just another week – just in time to get some more stuff cleared out.

Here’s the thing- I have so much stuff that could be used, is nice enough and still fun to have around- but does this mean I need to keep it? – Especially if I am tripping over it?

Nope.

Out it goes.

This is totally not my personality and yet it’s liberating. Woo-Hoo!

I did go to the craft fair today. I had to pick up this guy. Adorable eh?

Just minutes before I got on the computer and read your blog, I was decluttering! It might be a favorite hobby of mine. :)

I really feel the need to get rid of a lot of stuff. Unfortunately I live with a bunch of pack rats.

I love decluttering, although you’d never know it. My house is a mess. However, most of it is paper, magazines, my husbands mail and office papers – it’s all paper. It involves sorting and filing and shredding. It is always amazing to me how quickly it accumulates. Love the snowman! Hope you continue to enjoy decluttering!

Do you have Freecycle in your area? It is a great way to get something you don’t need any more to someone who wants/needs it.

    He is adorable!

I think boxing stuff up for a few months is a good idea (provided you have somewhere to store it) if you haven’t missed any of it after a few months – get rid of it!

Funny looking thing, on so many levels.

Craft fairs can be dangerous places!!

I’ll often get into “de-cluttering” moods in which I throw things out in a frenzy. It seems to happen every other year.

It’s good to declutter… I am the queen… it’s a constant battle in my house. I dislike anything anywhere where as Chris is a man hell bent on little piles. Little piles drive me crazy, I throw them out. That drives him crazy. Ying and Yang. Also I don’t do crafts or trinkets or holiday decorations. Yep I’m weird!

I have been trying to declutter for weeks! Most of it is the kids old clothes. We have new clothes, old clothes, borrowed clothes, everywhere. The rest of the glutter is paper, AND I hate it. Never can get to getting it put away or I do and more of it just shows up.

I am hoping to get it all done this month or I will loss it.

Decluttering is awesome. And no, I still can’t see your pics. I could when I first came here, and now I can’t. I have no clue why. I’ve tried different browsers. It’s very depressing.

I defeated one room of clutter! Yeah me. I was able to give away a large bag of my sons old clothes to make room in his closet for his new pile of clothes that do not fit him.

Next, is to tackle my daughters room which really needs help.

Why is it we tackle the easy tasks first?

Oh yes, so we can feel like we have accomplished something.
