One Lone Light Bulb

As we finished worshiping at a beautifully ornate temple, I walked by this little window.

I love its stark simplicity.

Me, too! The bulb though has so much movement in it because of the way the light is hitting it. In fact the whole picture has movement – Wow. I love this picture. Thanks.

Sheila – Interesting you used the word “stark” simplicity. My maiden name was Stark, and I have always felt this name described my life somewhat – the lows and highs of it. First from the “stark horror” of an abusive father who wanted to kill my mother and I, and then to the “stark” reality of such unconditional love and protection from my grandparents. Such stark extremes. Extremes which made all the difference in the world in my final life. My grandparents taught me how to trust and love again.

Somehow this little bulb sitting there by itself makes me very sad. I think it reminds me of someone who has this “bright” possibility like that bulb with their life, and this wide open window to reach it, but yet remains there alone and dangling because of their lack of trust in humans – always expecting the bad instead of the inherent good someone wishes for them — thus the loneliness that never goes away as they push people who care further and further away. I thank God every day my grandparents came into my life — or I know without any doubt I would have been this lonely little bulb daggling there in such stark simplicity.

It leaves me with many questions and a kind of empty, lonely feeling.

Makes me think of squeaking. Lone light bulbs always squeak as they swing, don’t they?

Lisa – Beautiful photos on your blog. I would really like to be right there in that wonderful little strange abode watching those birds.

Absolutely beautiful perspective. It’s not just the subject but how you framed it that makes it so simple. It is a powerful shot.

It makes my heart sad… weird how a picture can do that
