Kathleenon 14 Nov 2008 at 1:21 am 1I LOVE this picture. It made me remember how so many times we replace the old with the new, and just throw away the old. In our world of a throw-away society, we have “environmentally and visually damaged the beauty God has given us.” As an animal lover, I particularly think of the many species my grandchildren may not see and know except perhaps in a zoo — such as the polar bears. Now we are trying to undo the harm which has been done — but possibly too late. We can only hope NOT for the sake of our future generations.
I wish all of you could come to Memphis to see our beautiful new area called Northern Exposure at the zoo. Here is a link for a cam to see the polar bears. I could sit for hours and watch these beautiful creatures as they play and swim. I guess that is what made me think of the polar bears in particular.

Cabeon 14 Nov 2008 at 3:19 am 3Love the mood this photo creates. Do you shoot in manual mode most of the time or automatic?

Claire B.on 14 Nov 2008 at 11:03 am 4Another great shot. Love the old faded paint and the colors they used on something that didn’t necessarily “need” to be pretty.

Dr. Casonon 14 Nov 2008 at 11:37 am 5Kathleen- I’m glad you like it. I’ll check out the link.
Jaden- Yeah! I’m glad you can see it! Thanks so much for the award.
Cabe- Some f both but actually I’m such a dork with the camera that I try automatic for some and then look at it to see if it reflects what I want. If it doesn’t I then switch it around and try to catch the light better. I really need to join in on some tutorials!
Claire B.- I loved the faded paint too. I thought it had such nice texture. The cab driver was waiting for me as I ran back from across the street and just before I jumped in the car I saw them. “Oops, Wait!” I said and just started taking pics. “It’s just old tires”, they all said.
“But it’s so pretty I replied, “and old.”
Lisa's Chaoson 14 Nov 2008 at 2:18 pm 6Well if you’re weird then I am too. I love everything about it.

Carrieon 14 Nov 2008 at 5:16 pm 7That is a gorgeous photo – and you aren’t weird at all. Part of recognizing the beauty in everyday life is knowing where to find it, and I think you definitely know where to look!
