The Sinus Infections Just Keep on Coming
Posted by Dr. Cason on Tuesday, November 25th, 2008
We can drown in the unknown. We can paralyze ourselves from the anticipation of what to do. But the simple fact is we don’t know. We can even begin to expect to understand why everything happens and then how to manipulate it.
It’s taken me my whole life to realize this.
And then only on good days.
The sinus infection has been raging off and on since June. We’re scheduled for adenoidectomy in December. He did pretty well with the last procedure. Here he was post op. Makes you want to crawl in next to him huh?
That’s what I did.

Kathleenon 25 Nov 2008 at 9:01 pm 1I remember when Tommy and then Nick had their tonsils out. I don’t know who was more stressed – them or me. I believe I may have won that battle. The idea of putting this precious little part of me under the care of someone I did not know was devastating to me. And I did the same when they came back to the room – would not leave their side for a minute!
Hope Jakey is better soon. Sinus season is raging in Memphis, TN too. I have one of these infections right now myself.

Saraon 26 Nov 2008 at 12:11 am 2You scared me, I thought something had happened in the last few days.
It is so hard to see our little ones sick. My 19 month old has her first ear infection of the winter season. I pray it is only one and not the first of many like last winter. She is my sick child.
Hope you all have a good Thanksgiving!
Kylaon 26 Nov 2008 at 12:48 am 3Good luck with it. I’m pleased to say that KayTar has made it through 3 weeks post-op without any illnesses and one of those weeks, she was even in school! I can’t remember the last 3 week period without an illness before this.

Kathleenon 26 Nov 2008 at 2:51 am 5Sheila – Did I mention your little man looks just like you! He is just so adorable. Don’t you just love the beauty of the skin of a child – such perfection. This is the thing (along with the beautiful eyes) I enjoy the most about your family pictures.

Dr. Casonon 26 Nov 2008 at 8:13 am 6Kathleen- I’m torn and anxious about the surgery. I think it may make him better though so I’ll just say a lot of prayers and keep my fingers crossed.
Sara- No that was from 6 months ago. But the thought that we will start over gets me a little nauseous. Have a great thanksgiving as well. I hope the ear feels better!
Kyla- I was think of your little girl when I posted this. I’m so glad she is doing better.
Jaden- That’s a sleeping child for you. All sweetness.
Kathleen- You haven’t seen enough of my husband then! Everyone says he’s a little john.
Nikkion 26 Nov 2008 at 9:12 am 7That picture melts my heart and makes me so thankful that Danger has been really healthy so far. It’s so easy to take her health for granted.
Lisaon 26 Nov 2008 at 10:13 am 8Hope it goes well. My daughter’s was exceptionally well. She came home wanting to call her grandma and tell her about the surgery while I followed her around saying “ssshh, you’re not supposed to talk.” And after that she could smell. And no more sleep apnea, or constant fatigue.

Awesome Momon 26 Nov 2008 at 10:31 am 9We are facing another surgery soon too. I hope that your son’s goes smoothly and it helps him get healthy.
Dr. Casonon 26 Nov 2008 at 11:46 am 10Nikki- I get kinda choked up too.
Lisa- Oh I hope that is goes as well as that. I’m nervous about it being so close to Christmas but at least we’ll have some time to just sit on the couch and snuggle.
Awesome Mom- Me too. And I hope yours goes smoothly as well.
Kathleenon 26 Nov 2008 at 1:50 pm 11Oh and Sheila, you had better pack that razor for the hospital trip. He will probably jump right out of that bed and be ready to show all the doctors, nurses, and other patients his chicken leg up and down the hallways.
Wishing the best for the little man’s surgery. Let me know when and I will definitely be saying prayers for his successful surgery and quick recovery too.

Brianon 26 Nov 2008 at 3:25 pm 13Quite scary when they have health problems so young. As a young child I had every cronic sinus problem known to man. The Ear Nose & Throat doctor was on my parents’ speed dial… eventually they just all cleared up.
My thoughts are with you.

Tiff- Thank you.
Brian- Oh that’s always good to hear!
myston 27 Nov 2008 at 8:30 am 15Oh poor little possum.
Gee I hope you get this sorted out.
My husband had the lot – adenoids out, tonsils out, grommets in ears (many times) – it all seemed to help.
