Macro Monday with Smiling Boy and Miss Blue Eyes’ Cranberry Hands

Posted by Dr. Cason on Monday, December 1st, 2008

So for my

hosted by Lisa at Lisa’s Chaos here is my little man. This is on the plane back from Hawaii this last summer.

It was a trip fraught with so much uncertainty, it seemed apropos that he be caught in the shadow.

Light and Dark#1

Also for Cabe’s challenge at The Daily Focal Point I have some cranberries for you.

I grew up making everything by hand except the jellied cranberries. Now that I’m officially all grown up and have cooked a few turkeys, I find the cranberries the easiest of all to make.

    Hi Sheila-

The cranberries are pretty easy to use. This year I made a cranberry cheesecake (with cranberries inside) and a cranberry puree for the top of the cake. It was good.

I also made dairy, egg, and nut free cranberry muffins for my daughter with the leftover cranberries. They were good too - a bit tart - next time the cranberries wil need a bit more sugar.

Such a sweet, sweet picture of your little man Sheila. He even looks very concerned and worried in this picture as well. Those eyelashes - most women would die for those beautiful eyelashes. . . .

I just want to be there eating those cranberries. They look so delicious in your photograph. I can hardly wait to purchase my new camera after Christmas. Yipppeee, I will have fun then like you do with yours.

I love the cranberries photo… I’m stoked to post it. Don’t worry, I’ll go on and on about how I can see my soul in the cranberries and how the hands in the shot are the hands of time and how life is nothing but a handful of cranberries… blah blah blah blah. :)

Yeah cranberries, just sugar and water and heat, I think?

    Just lovely macro Monday (whoa-whoa)
    That’s my fun day,
    My take-a-photo-on-the-run day.
    Just a lovely macro Monday

Gee, I’m weird. But likeable, I hope?

I got so stumped on the food challenge for Cabe! I guess I am just not as advanced with my shots yet as you all… Yours looks fab!

And your little man… oh so adorable. :)

Sara- For some reason I haven’t really experimented with baking egg and dairy free yet. Still in denial I guess!

Kathleen- Don’t worry about the new camera, we want to see what you have now. Tomorrow I’ll post some pics of Ecuador that I got with a cheap throw away camera!

Cabe- LOL! And how each little cranberry, while a little tart, with just the right amount of sugar can become delightfully pleasant- just like us all!

Jannie- Sugar, Water and I add a little orange rind. Mmmmm…And Jannie your sooo likeable! It’s why I keep coming back!

Kyla- The cranberries are overshadowing my little man!

Jaden! What you couldn’t snap a photo of a turkey or two?

  8. Cabeon 02 Dec 2008 at 8:20 am 8

LOL oh man, that cracked me up! Give me a break… :)

You can send me the photo if you want and I can do a tutorial on it for tomorrow if you would like so others can learn too. Or I can just give you my 2 cents on what you should do, etc.

Thanks Sheila. I took a photo yesterday for Cabe’s food challenge, so you will see one shot I took later I guess on Cabe’s site. I posted it also on my blog. After all, it WAS related to animal rescue - all my rescue animals helped me eat some of that potroast yesterday.

In fact, I had a container prepared for lunch today. I sat it on the kitchen counter while I got dressed. Well, when I got ready to leave, the big chow/lab Onnie had managed to get it down and eaten every bite. I had to stop and prepare my lunch again. No mess to clean up, Onnie had taken care of all of that! Hope Onnie does not figure out how to open that refrigerator before I get home tonight.

Hey I have pictures for today too! My husband made his own cranberries this year too. Ten times better homemade than from a can.

Those cranberries look delish! We always have to take my dad CranJack cheese when we go visit. :) Since cranberries are grown here you can find tons of things made out of them.

Love the photo of your son, the shadows are great!

Cabe- Just remember dude that you asked for it!! We’ve just opened up a whole can of worms.

Kathleen- LOL! That reminds of one time when I had just had my third and I was trying to prepare ahead. I set the food (chicken nuggets-of course) all out on each little kid’s plate to cool off and then ran and picked up the two older ones at daycare. When I returned the plates were spotlessly cleaned off! In fact they were so clean that I spun around and kept glancing at the dogs. They looked nonplussed and I was left wondering whether I’d put them out in the first place!

Lisa- So good! But I’m still a little nostalgic for the tinny flavor of jellied cranberries! :)

Lisa’s Chaos- Dude what? CranJack cheese. I’m thinking these two shouldn’t be mixed together!

Brian- Remember I’m in Guam- it’s where America’s day begins and it’s tuesday now for me! :) Little man was probably picking at his fingernails.

I think it was 2 or 3 years ago, I made cranberries for the first time. Holy crap they’re good. So easy, soooo gooood.

Monstergirlee- Really??? It seemed so simple. Maybe that’s the charm. Same with the cranberry jelly. :)

The lighting and composition of your son’s photo is incredible! And then the cranberries are pretty darn good too…I’m always impressed by clarity…
