My Photographic Life

Taking Care of Myself

Posted by on Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Yesterday was my first day of the photo class and alas no lesson per se but  a request.

A request to slow down and take care of ourselves.

So I slowed down.

Well as much as one can and still be with the kids and piano lessons and planning for work…

I went to a bookstore.

And lingered.

Played the piano.

Called an old friend.

I spoke kindly and gave people the benefit of the doubt. (Probably one of my best ways to take care of myself)

I cleaned and straightened but only for the allotted time.

And I looked through old photos of this past year…

I’m forever grateful for these memories.

I wonder if I’d remember them quite so much if I didn’t take a photo.

I love this one.

He’s getting old. His eyes are clouding over and he doesn’t hear so good.

But he’s faithful and present and I love him so much.

I can so relate–our labs are getting long in the tooth. It’s so hard to consider they won’t be around for ever. When the kids wake up every morning the pups still go crazy waiting for a hug.
