Operation Re-entry and a Last Little Bit of O’ahu
Dr. Cason on Jul 28th 2008
Good Morning- Shhh… it’s 5:25amĀ here on a Monday morning in Guam and the day is about to start. The coffee is done but it’s waiting for me to pour that cup. It’s not a Cafe Mocha but it’ll do.
I’m sinking back into my routine. I’ve been calling it Operation Re-entry”. I was [...]
Heading Home
Dr. Cason on Jul 24th 2008
Spent this last day on the island just driving around and enjoying the beauty. We’ll be heading home and soon again my life will be about how to manage three little ones and work and life.
I’ve restructured some priorities – again- and plan to be cooking more home cooked meals, taking lots of pretty pics [...]
And the Diagnosis is….
Dr. Cason on Jul 23rd 2008
NOT esosinophilic esophagitis (EE)
Thank you Lord. I know this may sound silly but I was soo happy because with this potential diagnosis the GI doc recommended eliminating soy. No he doesn’t test allergic to soy but she said it can help in kids with EE.
Are you kidding me? I tried. Between last week and today [...]
Oh Wow What a Great Day!
Dr. Cason on Jul 22nd 2008
Not today- today we took my little guy back to the lab and had another 20cc drawn out in an attempt to narrow down just what is going on! No camera on this little mission. I didn’t need to memorialize his tears. We’ll meet with the specialists tomorrow for the results of his biopsy- Is [...]

Dr. Cason on Jul 21st 2008
Hi everyone! Today was another lovely day meandering around the island. Here is just one of the photos I promised. Jake with the birds didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted and I spent too long tinkering in Photoshop without a decent results! Shoot!!
But this one I really liked and again I changed [...]
I Just Wanted to Say Thank You
Dr. Cason on Jul 20th 2008
Today was a good day. At least it ended well which makes up for some of the tantrumming in the am. Bought a stroller and that has made all the difference. For me of course!
Made our way down to the beach again, grabbed some food and had ourselves a picnic. Jake ran around chasing the [...]
Unexpected Beauty
Dr. Cason on Jul 19th 2008
We have the weekend off to recuperate and rest before additional labs will be drawn.
I played with these photos today working with the black and white and texturizing them to make some of them look a little older. It reminded me that sometimes when we look at things in a different way they become beautiful [...]
Something’s Wrong
Dr. Cason on Jul 19th 2008
They found something on the scope- a swollen esophagus- may be eosinophilic esophagitis. Don’t ask I still have research to do.
Now this morning his immunodeficiency labs came back abnormal. We will go in for some repeat labs and a sit down talk.
Now I’m getting worried.
He’s running around eating pretzels and grapes and I can’t stop [...]
Sleepy Feet
Dr. Cason on Jul 18th 2008
Little sleepy feet.
Soon we head over for the bronchoscopy and endoscopy. I’ve been warned he’ll be confused coming out of anesthesia. We have a relaxing day planned following. Maybe a little pool. Maybe a little food at the local drive in.
Thank you all for the well wishes and prayers. I haven’t been able to visit [...]
A New Friend at Waikiki Beach
Dr. Cason on Jul 17th 2008
I think the highlight of today for Jakey came at the end.
We wandered down to Waikiki beach to watch the sunset.
He stood mesmerized by a little boy who very sweetly offered him a shovel and scooted over to make room in his sand spot.
They played side by side and I took photos. *sigh*
Then Jake rewarded [...]
