An Officer and A Gentleman

Dr. Cason on Sep 19th 2008

He took out the dress whites tonight, dusted them off and prepared for his Dining-In.
I watched him go through all the motions, laughing and talking and looking so official all the while.
I smiled as he went to leave. It was all I could do not to run after him and jump in his arms ala [...]

Finding Beauty in the Simple Things

Dr. Cason on Sep 12th 2008

If there was one take away lesson from Bali I learned, it was to find beauty in the simple things.
We were seated at breakfast early one morning surrounded by fruit and sweetened rice. The smells and sounds were so new and overwhelming it all I could do just to sit there and take it all [...]

Proof that Photos Don’t Have to be Perfect to be Beautiful

Dr. Cason on Aug 24th 2008

Are you too hard on yourself and getting that perfect photo? Are you too hard on your photos?
Once taken are you scrutinizing and discarding them too quickly?
I’m a big lover of crisp, sharp photos. I discard a lot of blurry, out of focused photos claiming they are flawed. When I first saw this photo I [...]

The Last Days of Summer

Dr. Cason on Aug 22nd 2008

Evidence that summer is drawing to an end.

This sad little bath toy got tossed here I don’t know how many weeks ago.
Each day I passed him by and left him there.
Then the leaves fell and the rain dropped.
And he lay waiting.

Asleep on the Job

Dr. Cason on Aug 21st 2008

I have schlepped all three kids to my office more in the last few weeks than ever before.

But for now it seems like a lot of work.

Please get better kiddos…Mommy’s about to have a nervous breakdown.

Oh Pretty Day

Dr. Cason on Aug 17th 2008

Rainy season in Guam.
Best time of the year.
Busy making plans and the house is asleep.  Er- rather the kids are asleep. Here’s a pic that I took recently. And believe it not I’m not even tempted to change it to black and white. It’s the colors that make it so special.

Don’t forget about Medicine Mondays! [...]

A Few of My Favorite Things

Dr. Cason on Aug 15th 2008

It’s been a long past couple of weeks. All three have been kids sick. The clinic has been full of diagnostic dilemmas and school physicals. So I’ve been missing my home.
And I love home.
Being called a homebody isn’t an insult. It’s the truth.
So now my workweek is over and it’s 8:30 at night and all [...]

Such Facial Expressions!

Dr. Cason on Aug 10th 2008

I’m always fascinated with facial expressions and particularly so when they are my own kids! This afternoon we were doing some tie dying and I think he got a little bored waiting for all those little rubber bands to be completed. I glanced up and saw him with leaning his cheek on his little hand. [...]

Some More Black and Whites

Dr. Cason on Aug 8th 2008

When I was young I pulled  an old Ansel Adams calendar to pieces and tacked them up all around the wall. The striking images soothed me. Ansel was once quoted as saying it didn’t so much matter what you thought when you saw a photo but what you felt.
This is what I feel:

Lonely. This is [...]

A Farmer’s Market

Dr. Cason on Aug 3rd 2008

This was one of my favorite spots in Cairns Australia. I lingered over the mangoes and smelled the cantaloupe. I could have spent all day meandering amongst the fruit.
